  • On November 19,1967,Hong Kong's first free-to-air television station,"Television Broadcasts Limited" (TVB),was officially established,marking a new milestone in Hong Kong entertainment. The birth of TVB completely changed the public's traditional entertainment model,and watching television gradually became the main daily pastime for Hongkongers.
  • On April 6,1973,"Rediffusion Television" was renamed "Rediffusion Television" and switched from a pay-TV service to a free-to-air service,producing many high-quality TV dramas. It successfully won back many viewers. With the emergence of "Rediffusion Television" as a direct competitor,TVB began to focus on promotion methods. One effective method was to create a theme song that interacted with the TV drama's plot,allowing viewers to feel immersed as soon as they heard it. Thus,"drama songs" came into being.
  • Since the 1970s,TV dramas have accompanied Hongkongers as they grew up,and TV drama theme songs and interlude songs are an important part of Hongkongers' childhood memories. "Drama songs" were widely disseminated with the broadcast of TV dramas,and TV dramas played a huge role in promoting the Cantonese pop music to mainstream.
  • The rise of Cantonese pop music in the mid-1970s largely relied on the popularity of TV drama theme songs and interlude songs. From "Tears and Laughter" to the eponymous theme song of "Frenzy," Cantonese pop music has always had an inseparable connection with TV dramas. Later dramas like "Hotel," "The Romantic Swordsman," and "The Giant" further propelled Cantonese pop music to its peak.
  • On November 1,1976,"Frenzy," starring Shek Sau,Lee Heung-kam,Cora Miao,Deborah Lee,Chow Yun-fat,and others,was broadcast. This was TVB's first modern drama with over a hundred episodes,and it caused a sensation in society at the time.

The lyricist first highlights human suffering in the world through its inherent contradictions,but then responds to this issue not with overly profound philosophical insights,but rather with a series of questions. This rhetorical style is remarkably similar to another of James Wong's famous works,"Ask Me."
  • "A Thousand Chains of Love" is the theme song of the TV drama of the same name. The duet between Chung Ling-ling and Shek Sau is perfectly harmonious,and the contrasting high and low vocal ranges sound natural and smooth. The eponymous theme song of another inspiring youth drama,"Ride the Wind and Break the Waves," was sung by a group of singers including Jenny Tsui,radiating a vibrant youthful energy and an optimistic,uplifting mood.
  • "Rainbow Rider" was a popular cartoon series in the 1970s,with its theme song sung by Shek Sau and Cheung Yuen-yuen. "The Fig" was sung by newcomers Jenny Tsui and Tang Chi-sun,full of youthful vitality.
  • The success of "Frenzy" filled TVB with confidence,leading to the production of many subsequent long-running dramas with over a hundred episodes. As the first wave of theme songs for long-form TV dramas,"Frenzy" created an unprecedented craze for Cantonese pop music. Although the only truly professional singers on this album were Susanna Kwan and Cheung Yuen-yuen (Teresa Cheung),it does not diminish the classic status and importance of this record.
