[9Box Music Recycling Log] Bidding Farewell to Physical Assets! Veteran Audiophile Mr. Chan Parts with Over 20 Rare
Date: April 2026
Weather: Light rain, typical Hong Kong humid spring day
Location: Kwun Tong District,Mr. Chan's residence
Today, our "9box" recycling team came to Kwun Tong to visit Mr. Chan,a seasoned vinyl enthusiast. A few days prior,Mr. Chan had contacted us via WhatsApp,sending a photo of vinyl records covering most of his living room (see Figure 1). All of them were classic albums by Anita Mui,the "Big Sister" of the Hong Kong music scene, from "Bad Girl" and "Flaming Lips" to "Leaping Stage," totaling more than twenty records. Each one clearly showed signs of meticulous care from its owner.
👤 Seller Profile & Story
Seller: Mr. Chan,58,semi-retired,veteran audio and physical record player. Reason for Selling: Changes in family structure and upgrade in listening habits.

Upon entering,Mr. Chan enthusiastically welcomed us to view his "treasures." When asked why he was willing to part with these cherished Anita Mui vinyl records,Mr. Chan's reasons were practical and heartwarming: "It's not that I don't love them anymore. It's mainly because my son just had a baby and is moving back in with me to help with childcare. This 'audiophile room' of mine, which I used for listening to music,is about to become my granddaughter's nursery! Plus,in the past two years,I've started moving into high-end CAS (Computer Audio Source) streaming,so I'm playing physical vinyl less and less. Rather than having them gather dust and mildew in cardboard boxes under the bed,it's better to find professional recyclers like you to help them find new owners who will truly play them daily."

As Mr. Chan spoke,he carefully took out one of the "Bad Girl" albums (see Figure 2) and handed it to me: "Look, how sensational this album was back then! I've always kept the sleeve in an anti-static bag."
