Appraisal criteria

Check edition, condition and provenance before pricing.

We do not quote only by artist name. Sleeve, label, inserts, disc surface, first press or reissue status all affect the appraisal.
01

Edition and origin

Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, first press, promo and white-label copies are assessed separately.

02

Sleeve and inserts

Lyrics sheets, obi strips, posters and box completeness can change collectible value.

03

Disc and playback risk

Scratches, mould, warping and PVC marks should be photographed under reflection.

04

Batch provenance

A full batch shows storage background and makes key editions easier to identify.

Process

Organise first, inspect only when it is worth it.

01

Send photos for a first estimate

Photograph cover, back cover, label and reflective disc surface. For large batches, start with spine rows.

02

Mark key editions

We identify first press, Japan press, box sets, promo copies or signed material worth extra photos.

03

Arrange inspection

When the first direction is worthwhile, we arrange store or pickup inspection.

04

Confirm handover

Final value is confirmed by physical condition before cash handover and sorting.

FAQ

Before sending photos, align on appraisal rules.

01 Can I ask even if I only have a few records?

Yes. For a small batch, send photos by WhatsApp first. We will check whether there are key editions and suggest the next step.

02 Which photos help the appraisal most?

Photograph the front cover, back cover track list, record label, lyric sheet or obi strip, and reflective disc surface. For large batches, start with group photos and spine rows.

03 Do mould or scratches remove all value?

It depends on edition and damage level. Rare editions may still have value, but PVC marks, serious warping or deep scratches will reduce the appraisal.

04 Do you offer pickup in Hong Kong?

For Hong Kong collections, pickup can be arranged depending on quantity, item type and the first estimate. For large collections, estate clearance or moving, send overview photos first.

05 Can CDs, cassette tapes and audio equipment be reviewed together?

Yes. Vinyl records, older CDs, cassette tapes and audio equipment from the same collection are often easier to assess together because the provenance is clearer.

06 Should I split box sets or replace inner sleeves first?

No. Before appraisal, keep box sets and original accessories together. Original lyric sheets, obi strips, boxes, receipts and signatures can affect collector value.
