Seller's Story: From "House Full of Records" to "Downsizing"
Seller Information: Mr. Lam, 65, retired secondary school teacher, avid Hong Kong pop music fan. Reason for Selling: Change in living environment (downsizing), no time to manage a large collection, hopes his treasured items can find their way to true music lovers.
Mr. Lam is a nostalgic person; an entire wall in his study is filled with vinyl records from the 80s and 90s. However, as his children grew up and started their own families, Mr. Lam and his wife decided to move into a smaller apartment in Tseung Kwan O for retirement. With this "downsizing," the first challenge was to deal with these hundreds of vinyl records.
"Young people nowadays listen to streaming music, and my children aren't really interested in these 'old relics.' There's simply no space in the new house for such a large turntable and record cabinet." Mr. Lam caressed the record sleeves, his voice carrying a hint of reluctance but also great magnanimity: "Rather than letting them mold in cardboard boxes, I hope that through '9Box Music,' these out-of-print Hong Kong classics can once again fill someone else's living room."
Among Mr. Lam's extensive collection, what caught our eye most were several well-preserved early classic albums by George Lam (Ah Lam), one of which even featured a precious autograph.

We put on white gloves and, under Mr. Lam's watchful eye, meticulously appraised these George Lam vinyl records. Mr. Lam has always taken great care of his records; while the sleeves inevitably showed signs of age, the media (the record surface) was still gleaming like new, with no noticeable deep scratches. This is a rare "neat" condition in the second-hand market.
