  • In 1984,the two albums "Foggy Love" and "The Root of Love" achieved tremendous success, marking the peak of Alan Tam's singing career.
  • On February 15,1985,Alan Tam released his ninth Cantonese album "Love Trap",an album primarily featuring romantic love songs. Alan Tam's perfect singing skills were fully showcased; whether singing slow love songs or fast-paced tracks,he controlled them flawlessly.
  • "Love Trap" continued the success of the fast-paced song "Summer Cold Wind" from the previous album. It was an adaptation of Hiroaki Serizawa's work and quickly became a sensation throughout Hong Kong. Many factors contributed to the song's success, including Alan Tam's immense popularity,PolyGram's meticulous production, and the melody's versatility. However,Pan Yuanliang's lyrics deserve special mention. At first glance, the lyrics of "Love Trap" seem like the male protagonist's confession to the female protagonist, but Pan Yuanliang's writing focuses more on the male protagonist's inner emotions. The entire song creates a feeling of both love and resentment, and the repeated chanting of "this trap" three times at the end of the chorus is key to the song's popularity. The melody was already brilliant at the end of the chorus, but Pan Yuanliang's lyrical repetition gave the song powerful vitality, making "Love Trap" like a machine gun, continuously firing off the next line of lyrics, creating a catchy auditory experience. Alan Tam's rapid and precise articulation made hearts race, and the arrangement of the chorus poured out like a storm, creating an exhilarating listening experience.
  • "Flower Boy World" and "Where Are You Now" are the theme song and featured song (interlude) from the movie "Flower Boy in Love," starring Alan Tam. "Where Are You Now" is also a work by Hiroaki Serizawa,in which Alan Tam's languid singing style conveys the desolate and helpless mood of the song.
  • "Romance on a Rainy Night" is adapted from "Fantasy" by Japanese male singer Akira Fuse. Xiang Xuehuai, who loves rainy scenes, used a new narrative technique to tell a beautiful and romantic story, using scenery to hide emotion, and emotion to transform scenery, intertwining both. In the chorus,"Fantasy / joyful tears / your warmth like fire" makes one weep with joy. Past events, beautiful moments, complex emotions, all erupt in this ordinary yet extraordinary rainy night.
  • In the previous album "The Root of Love," Alan Tam adapted a work by Korean singer Cho Yong-pil. This time,he also sang "Fire Beauty," which Cho Yong-pil composed. Subsequently,he adapted Cho Yong-pil's works multiple times, including "Knitting" and "Winter's Cold Call" from the 1985 album "Lorelei," "Do You Know" from the 1991 album "Enchanted," and "Can't Say Goodbye" from the 1994 album "Dreamy Smile."
  • "Kung Hei Fat Choi" and "I Love the World" are the theme song and featured song (interlude) from the Lunar New Year comedy film "Kung Hei Fat Choi," starring Alan Tam. Riding on the success of the film, these two festive New Year songs quickly spread.
  • At the 1985 Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Music Awards Presentation,Alan Tam once again pulled off a hat-trick,with "Love Trap," "Romance on a Rainy Night," and "Lorelei" all making it into the Top Ten Golden Songs. "Love Trap" even won the Golden Song Gold Award, and Alan Tam consecutively won the "Most Popular Male Singer Award."
  • In 1999,PolyGram specially held the "20th Century Strongest Chinese Albums" selection event, and the 20 selected strongest albums were produced as limited edition commemorative versions with exquisite sound quality, named "PolyGram 20th Century Brilliant Impressions," to pay tribute to the singers and musicians who contributed to Hong Kong's pop music industry. Alan Tam had four albums selected, including "Can't Forget You," "Foggy Love," "The Root of Love," and "Love Trap."
