  • The annual "Miss Hong Kong Pageant" has always been Hong Kong's most famous and largest beauty pageant, becoming a major event that attracts widespread attention across the city. Countless young women, full of beautiful dreams, bravely step into the spotlight and fiercely compete under the discerning eyes of the judges. The winners often become famous overnight, realizing a Cinderella fairytale. Many contestants later enter the entertainment industry, embarking on colorful lives.
  • In 1982,Cally Kwong,at the age of nineteen, participated in the "Miss Hong Kong Pageant" and won first runner-up,subsequently signing with TVB. In May 1984,Cally Kwong made a sensational debut by performing as a ghost singer for Maggie Cheung during a large song and dance performance at the Miss Hong Kong Pageant finals, and then became a signed singer with PolyGram.
  • In November 1985,Cally Kwong released her first Cantonese album,"Waiting Again." The lead single,"Waiting Again," was originally "" sung by Taiwanese singer Pan Yueh-yun,with lyrics by Pun Wai Yuen. The song's mood was even deeper and more profound than the original. The song retained a monologue, which Cally Kwong slowly read in a sweet female voice, leaving a lingering impression. Her voice was full of femininity, with a highly magnetic vibrato that was extremely penetrating. With the outstanding performance of this album,Cally Kwong won the "Most Promising Newcomer Bronze Award" at the 8th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Awards Concert.
  • In 1986,Cally Kwong released her second Cantonese album,"Cally Kwong," which included dance-style "Heartbroken Me," the tender "Two Chances," the charming ballad "Drunk," and the classic duet "Love Endures Forever."
  • The lead song "Piled-up Emotions" was first sung by Singaporean singer Jiang Hu,and it won first place in Singapore's Top Ten Golden Songs of 1987 on the Drunken Dragon Tiger Chart. The Cantonese version of "Piled-up Emotions" was penned by Siu Mei,who used metaphors around "piling up" to visually accumulate emotional troubles, delicately and poetically expressing a profound love. Cally Kwong's voice is deep and resonant, with a soft tenderness that comes from enduring hardships, perfectly portraying the sentiment of unspoken deep love and lifelong companionship.
  • "Lonely Wind" is an adaptation of Lo Ta-yu's work "Wild Lilies Also Have Spring." Cally Kwong's tearful interpretation is deeply moving, vividly portraying the painful loneliness and fragility of a woman. Lyricist Siu Mei shone brightly in 1996,winning the "Best Chinese Pop Lyric Award" at the 9th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs with "How Many Storms," breaking the male lyricists' dominance. Siu Mei's "How Many Storms" for Roman Tam,"Unspoken Gratitude" for Alan Tam,and "Who Can Resonate" for Leslie Cheung were simultaneously selected as the Top Ten Golden Songs of 1986,sparking a craze for autobiographical lyrics.
  • "Love Endures Forever" was a duet by Cally Kwong and Jacky Cheung, both newcomers at PolyGram at the time. Their heartfelt performance was romantic and beautiful.
  • The original song of "Heartbroken Me" was "Jump in My Car," sung by Secret Star in 1985,and later covered by many singers, including C.C.Catch,known as the Queen of Disco. In the 1987 "Hong Kong Open Future Idol Competition" finals,C.C.Catch performed this song, delighting Hong Kong music fans.
  • The album "Cally Kwong" was critically acclaimed and commercially successful, achieving double platinum sales. In 1987,"Hold Onto Spring" showed her maturation and development towards a sexy and charming image. "Stay With Me," released the same year, was also unstoppable, with its lead song "Stay With Me" topping the Hong Kong RTHK Chinese Pop Chart. After releasing "Heartbeat," Cally Kwong left PolyGram and joined DMI.
