  • The success of "Blessing" in 1988 propelled Sally Yeh into the ranks of top-tier singers. However, the follow-up album "Face to Face" in 1989 was a dismal failure, and she missed out on the three major awards ceremonies at the end of the year. The media even used the phrase "flash in the pan" to describe Sally Yeh.
  • In 1990,Sally Yeh made a comeback with her seventh Cantonese album,"Cherish." This album continued the warm style of "Blessing," with half of the songs being original local compositions, pushing Sally Yeh's singing career to its second peak.
  • The title track "Cherish" was originally Wang Chieh's "Say Goodbye." Poon Wai-yuen's lyrics elevated the artistic conception significantly. Phrases like "The weather in a distant land is getting colder / There might be white snow falling ahead" are a masterful touch, conveying an overflowing sense of concern, while Sally Yeh's gentle rendition is calm and restrained. When facing a friend about to embark on a long journey, the suppressed emotions are palpable, unspoken after years of affection. The climax,"I can't,I won't,I can't bear,I can't let go of losing you / I hope things can always turn around / Holding hands, shaking hands, breaking up,waving goodbye / I'll wait for you all my life, even if we're in two places," shows a layered progression of emotions, deeply impacting the listener.
  • "Burning My Heart" is the theme song for the movie "Terracotta Warrior," composed by Joseph Koo and James Wong. Accompanied by the poignant and beautiful movie scenes,Sally Yeh's performance is powerful yet graceful and lingering. With the movie's popularity,"Burning My Heart" quickly became a hit,and was selected for both the Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs and the Top Ten Gold Songs Awards.
  • "Promise" is adapted from Dave Wong's classic "You Don't Understand My Heart." Unlike Dave Wong's bold and sorrowful version,Sally Yeh's rendition is simple and graceful. "Promise" served as the theme song for the movie "Blessing," starring Ti Lung,Carol Cheng, and Gloria Yip. The film's director,Jacob Cheung, had previously worked as a photographer for Sally Yeh's first Cantonese album cover, and the signature "Sally Yeh" on the sleeve was also his handiwork. It was his introduction that gave Sally Yeh,who had just started her career in Hong Kong, the opportunity to sing "Reunion" with George Lam.
  • "Return to Nature" with its warm vocals naturally expresses a compassionate sentiment and concern for humanity. "A Couple" is calm and quietly soothes anxious souls. "I Walk My Own Way" is full of determination and courage. "Hair-Trigger" features exhilarating beats that sweep away previous heaviness, creating a passionate and vibrant night.
  • "He," whether in terms of musical range, breath control,or explosive power,is widely recognized as one of Sally Yeh's most significant musical works. Her performance is full of tension,free-spirited,and grand.
  • The "Cherish" album dominated the three major annual awards ceremonies, not only winning the "CR2 Chart Album 1FPI Award" at the Commercial Radio Hong Kong Pop Chart Awards but also earning Sally Yeh her first "Most Popular Female Singer Award" at the Top Ten Gold Songs Awards, thus beginning her glorious era of four consecutive wins.
  • In February 1991,Sally Yeh held her "Spring Breeze Concert" at the Hong Kong Coliseum, performing for ten consecutive nights. This was her second solo concert after the "Long Night Blessing Concert" in July 1989.
  • Sally Yeh's voice combines both strength and tenderness, with tension subtly embedded in her restraint. Her performances are full of emotion; she can effortlessly handle both grand musical styles and intimate melodies. Many well-known classic songs have been reborn after her interpretation, imbued with her distinct personality. Her clear and unrestrained singing reveals her unique confidence and free spirit.
  • On January 7,2011,the 33rd Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Awards Ceremony was held at Hong Kong Science Park, where Sally Yeh was awarded the "Golden Needle Award."
