  • The “ABU Asia-Pacific Pop Songwriting Competition” held in 1986 produced many outstanding works, and a large number of talented singers emerged through this competition, including Anthony Lun, Raidas, Prudence Liew, Chiang Chi-kwong, Vivian Chow, Fat Lan, and Christopher Wong.
  • On June 26, 1983, Wong Kai-kin, who was studying at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, participated in the "Children's Song Composition Competition" and won the third place with his self-composed song "Warmth". He was also invited to sing the theme song for the ATV drama "The Sword Immortal Li Bai", which was included in the compilation album "Hot Movies and Hit Songs PolyGram Volume 3".
  • In August 1986, Huang Kaiqin, who was working as a radio DJ, participated in the "ABU Asia-Pacific Pop Song Composition Competition" and made it to the finals with his song "Reunion". Although he failed to enter the top three, this poignant and tragic song revealed his creative talent.
  • In April 1987, Christopher Wong released his first EP after signing with PolyGram, *Reunion*, followed by his debut solo album, *Moody*, in August of the same year. PolyGram positioned Wong as an idol-like singer-songwriter, and producer Chan Kin-wo reached a consensus with Wong that he would not write more than three songs on the album, striving for a diverse range of musical styles. The title track, "Sad Lover," was a breakup song written by Wong. His deep voice conveyed a sense of helpless loneliness, and the gentle, meandering melody exuded a subtle sadness. This song reached number one on the RTHK Chinese Song Chart.
  • "Love Away From Home" is the theme song of the RTHK radio drama of the same name, sung by Wong Kai-kin and Yu Kim-ming. Lyricist Heung Suet-wai used rhyming and related words such as love, separation, future, and waiting to express the turbulent and displaced nature of love.
  • Poon Yuen-leung's lyrics for "Temporary Love" depict the sense of alienation felt by modern people in bustling cities. The song vividly portrays the main factors that lead to the alienation of modern interpersonal relationships (the rapid updating and iteration of goods, and the hurried pace of everything), making you feel powerless. This is a true reflection of life on this prosperous island in the 1980s.
  • On February 12, 1988, at the 10th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Awards Concert, Huang Kaiqin won the Silver Award for "Most Promising Newcomer".
  • His first album, "Moody," achieved double platinum sales, a remarkable success. From 1987 to 1992, Christopher Wong released seven Cantonese albums and one compilation album under PolyGram. Among them, "Your Favorite Song" was the album in which he was most involved in behind-the-scenes production during his time at PolyGram, marking his gradual transition from a singer to a music creator.
  • In 1992, in order to have more creative freedom, Christopher Wong switched to Fitto Records and released a new album, "Rumors". The album contained eight songs written by Christopher Wong himself, the biggest highlight of which was "Late Autumn", adapted from the work of mainland musician Xu Jianqiang.
  • Wong Kai-Chin's voice, sometimes deep and gentle, sometimes high and clear, comes from the depths of his heart. He sings of love as fleeting as a dream, or speaks of the complexities of life, a love that is both real and unreal. Listening to his songs is like savoring fine wine. He is like a poet reciting poetry in the wind, using music to express his reflections and critiques of life. His songs possess a unique scholarly spirit, and his youthful yet refined voice easily evokes memories. Although he never achieved massive fame, he left a profound mark on the Hong Kong music scene.
