[Ninth Note Box Recycling Log] Mr. Chan from Kwun Tong "decluttered and let go" of his beloved 80s pop vinyl records, which we purchased at a high price with our doorstep collection service.
Last night, our "9Box Music Music" team visited a large housing estate in Kwun Tong District and successfully completed a vinyl record collection. Each home visit to collect records is essentially listening to one real story after another about music and life. Today, I'd like to share this collection case from last night and showcase some beautifully preserved classic Cantonese pop vinyl records from the 1980s.
[Seller Profile]
- Seller: Mr. Leung (approx. 65 years old, retired civil servant)
- Reason for selling: "It's definitely not the reasons you usually hear," Mr. Chan said with a smile. "I'm getting old, and my vinyl player has been broken for years, and I've been too lazy to fix it. Nowadays, I mostly use my iPad for streaming music because it's convenient. These few boxes of records have been sitting in the study cabinet. Although they're well-maintained, without a player, they're just for show. Recently, I've been trying 'Danshari' (decluttering). Instead of letting them collect dust, I might as well let you help me pass them on to someone who will truly listen and cherish them!"
[On-site Assessment and Conversation]
When we arrived at Mr. Chan's home, he had already neatly laid out dozens of vinyl records on the sofa. As soon as we picked them up, we knew Mr. Chan was definitely a record lover. The record sleeves were free of mildew, and the vinyl surfaces still maintained a beautiful luster.

Among them, the three that caught our eye the most were the ones you see in the pictures: The first is Jacky Cheung's classic album, with its orange-red sleeve full of retro charm, and the record itself has almost no scratches. The second is Paula Tsui's "Paula" album, featuring Sister Paula's iconic polka-dot dress, an original Polydor pressing, and even the lyric sheet inside is well-preserved! The third is Dave Wong's first Cantonese album released in Hong Kong, "The Character in the Story," which was a massive hit back then. The condition of this record is also collectible.

Our team conducted a professional lighting inspection on the spot and confirmed that most of the records reached VG+ (Very Good Plus) or even NM (Near Mint) grades.

I said to Mr. Chan, "Mr. Chan, you've really kept your records in pristine condition! Many buyers out there might offer a low price if they think you want to get rid of them. But we believe in fair business; we definitely offer a high price for quality records."
When we calculated the total and offered Mr. Chan a reasonable high price, he readily agreed: "Great! The price is very fair, and most importantly, you know your stuff and recognize the value of these records. Cash transaction, quick and clean!"
