Full item description
Tsai Chin's "Old Songs" is recognized as a "fever-grade" audiophile test disc in the Chinese music world, and the original version released by Wing Hang Record in 1985 is a treasured collectible. Unlike later reissues, the Wing Hang version was pressed from the original analog master tape, fully preserving Tsai Chin's mellow, magnetic mid-range details, with precise soundstage positioning that makes her voice sound as if she's right next to you.
Wing Hang Version vs. Later Editions: Identification Guide
To help collectors accurately assess the value of their records,a professional identification comparison table is provided below. This also serves as our core reference indicator when conducting vinyl record appraisal for buyback:
| Identification Item | Original Wing Hang First Pressing (1985) | Later Reissue / Remastered Versions |
| Record Sleeve | Thicker, stiffer paper stock for the sleeve, natural print colors,no modern barcode. | Thinner paper, print colors may be darker or oversaturated, usually includes a modern barcode. |
| Label | Features the clear Wing Hang Logo, legible font with a vintage feel. | Label design may be altered,or include "Digital Remastering" text. |
| Matrix Number | Original mold numbers (e.g.,WHLP series) etched in the runout groove, with a handmade feel to the etching. | Runout numbers are often digitally typeset, and frequently include reissue year markings. |
| Sound Quality Characteristics | Wide dynamic range, solid and clear bass, vocals possess a unique "airy" quality. | Although surface noise is lower, the sound is relatively colder, lacking the warm of analog master tapes. |
Core Factors Determining Resale Value
When providing high-cash buyback services,we grade your "Old Songs" vinyl according to the following professional standards:
- Record Condition (Grading): Is the playing surface shiny. Are there noticeable hairlines or deep scratches. If it reaches NM (Near Mint) grade, the resale value will be significantly higher than older records with skip risks.
- Completeness of Accessories: Are the original lyrics inserts present. Are there any original promotional flyers or OBI strips from that year. The more complete the accessories, the higher the collector's premium.
- Sleeve Preservation: Does the sleeve have any moisture stains, damage,or obvious yellowing. Is the text on the spine clear and legible.
- Playback Performance: Is there severe crackling or background noise during playback.
