【George Lam's "The Best of 13 Lam": The Pinnacle of 80s Hong Kong Music and Audiophile Collector's Item】
As an iconic figure during the golden era of Hong Kong pop music,George Lam,with his explosive "natural vocal prowess" and unique musical sensibility, has left behind countless classics. "The Best of 13 Lam," as a significant compilation album, not only encapsulates Lam's musical essence but also perfectly showcases his dual charm in mastering both heartfelt ballads and wild upbeat songs. For veteran audiophiles and physical record collectors, this album is not just a musical memory of a generation; its extremely wide soundstage and solid vocals also make it an excellent test disc for evaluating the dynamic range of Hi-Fi audio systems.
Why is the "T11301" version so precious. (Record versions and collector's guide)
In the world of second-hand physical record collecting, the matrix number on the inner ring is a core indicator of a CD's value. The "T11301" version, which this page is primarily seeking, represents the earliest pressing of the album (first edition). Early pressings have minimal master tape degradation, retaining the most original and authentic recording details. Their sound density and fullness are far superior to later reissues or modern remasters, making them highly sought after by audiophiles.
| Record Version Characteristics | Sound Quality & Collector's Value | Market Rarity | Professional Assessment & Buyback Level |
| T11301 Korean/Japanese first pressing (no IFPI) | Extremely high sound density,three-dimensional vocal imaging, enormous and distortion-free dynamics, possessing the ultimate analog sound quality highly coveted by audiophiles. | Extremely rare, most collectors are unwilling to part with it,very few circulating in the market. | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Ultimate collectible - Highest cash buyback price) |
| T113 Early batches (e.g.,02,03 versions) | Sound quality remains very high, rich in detail,an early high-quality pressing with significant listening and collection value. | Relatively rare, occasionally circulated in the second-hand market. | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Rare collectible - top cash appraisal) |
| Post-90s reissues (with IFPI code) | Sound is relatively flatter, dynamics and layering are slightly inferior to the first edition, suitable for general pop music fans for everyday nostalgic listening. | Common, easily available in the market and online platforms. | ⭐⭐⭐ (Regular edition - Market price buyback) |
| SACD / K2HD and other modern remasters | Remastered using modern digital technology, extremely high resolution but often with a stronger "digital flavor," very low distortion rate. | Modern releases, depending on whether they are out-of-print limited editions. | ⭐⭐ (Modern edition - Regular buyback) |
