Full item description

Cally Kwong held a pivotal position in the Hong Kong music scene in the 1980s. Her album "Heartfelt Wishes" is a classic of her artistic career, and its White Label / Test Pressing is an unreleased collectible. White label records were originally only for radio DJs to preview or for internal review. Due to their extremely limited production and often representing the most original sound quality closest to the master tape, they possess extremely high commercial value in today's second-hand collector's market.

✦ Cally Kwong's "Heartfelt Wishes" Version Comparison and Collection Value Guide

To help collectors better understand the special features of white label records, here is a detailed comparison of the "Heartfelt Wishes" white label and the commercially released official version:

✦ Why is the "Heartfelt Wishes" white label a "darling" of the second-hand record buyback market.

1. Purity of Sound Quality (Audiophile Quality) Vinyl audiophiles know that the molds are most precise in the initial pressing stage (i.e.,the white label stage). Cally Kwong's unique, magnetic mezzo-soprano is fully expressed in "Heartfelt Wishes," and the white label record can more authentically restore the breathing and live feel of her voice.

2. Witness to an Era "Heartfelt Wishes" was released in the mid to late 1980s,during the golden age of Hong Kong pop music. White label records witness the operation of the radio promotion system back then, serving as an important piece of music industry history.

3. Key Identification Points: How to Determine the Value of Your "Heartfelt Wishes" White Label.

  • Surface Scratches (Visual Grading): Are there any deep scratches that affect playback.
  • Label Integrity: Are there any handwritten notes by radio DJs from back then on the label. (Sometimes handwritten names can prove its authenticity and increase its collection significance).
  • Flatness: Does the record have any physical deformation (warping).
