"A Rare Lover" is the title track of Hong Kong singer Shirley Kwan's second album, released on November 1, 1989, riding the wave of the album's immense popularity with its title track, "A Rare Lover" (released in the same month and year as her third album, and her first Japanese album, "Say Goodbye"). Following "Winter Love," this album further achieved platinum record sales, earning Kwan almost all the Most Promising New Female Artist awards at the music award ceremonies that year.
