Full item description
This "Sam Hui Hits Collection" is not only a microcosm of the "God of Songs" pinnacle in the Cantonese pop music scene but also a treasure for audiophiles and seasoned collectors. Its T113 01 / T113 04 coding specifically signifies that this album possesses the purest sound quality of the early digital recording era.
💿 Version Details and Craftsmanship Comparison Chart
For the high-end collector's market, version details determine the resale value. The table below summarizes the core technical characteristics of this set:
| Evaluation Dimension | Description and Technical Details | Collection Significance |
| Pressing Plant | T113 (Goldstar,Korea) | Extremely High. Early T113 pressings are known for precise data reading and low noise floor. |
| Matrix/Runout Code | Disc 1: T113 01 / Disc 2: T113 04 | Crucial. The 01 first edition and early version serials are key indicators sought by seasoned collectors. |
| Sound Quality Characteristics | Unmodified, original sound with rich mid-range and smooth,non-harsh high-range. | Audiophile Grade. Perfectly preserves the warm listening experience of 80s analog master tapes. |
| Packaging Format | Two-disc compiled hits collection (2 CD Set) | Classic. Contains the most complete tracklist,an essential entry point for "God of Songs" fans. |
| Market Rarity | As years pass, the number of complete (no skips, intact booklet) copies diminishes. | Steady Appreciation. Considered "hard currency" in the used record market. |
🎼 Cross-Era Musical Perspective: From Movie Theme Songs to Social Microcosm
Sam Hui's songs are not just melodies; they are cultural totems of Hong Kong's golden era. The reason this set commands a high second-hand CD resale value is that its content covers two highly representative dimensions:
1. The Peak Linkage of Film and Television Culture
The set includes classics such as "Aces Go Places" and "Unforgettable You". In the 80s,Sam Hui's films and music were an inseparable whole. Owning this CD is like owning an auditory record of Hong Kong action comedies and romantic films.
2. Urban Philosophy and Humanistic Concern
From "The Voice of the Prodigal" to "Tower Under the Clouds",Sam Hui pioneered the use of colloquial Cantonese to describe the feelings of ordinary citizens. In the presentation of T113 early digital versions, vocal details are incredibly rich, and the singer's breath changes and emotional tension during performance are far superior to heavily re-edited (Remastered) versions.
🔍 Why do seasoned collectors only recognize the T113 version.
During the process of high-value cash buyback of Hi-Fi audio equipment and CDs,professional appraisers often prioritize checking the matrix code. The uniqueness of the T113 version lies in:
- Originality of Digital Conversion: Although analog-to-digital (A/D Conversion) technology at the time was not as advanced as today,it interfered the least with the dynamic range of the original master tape, resulting in a sound that felt more "fleshy" and spatial.
- Physical Longevity: Early Korean pressings had a solid coating process, making them easier to preserve and less prone to oxidation (pinhole deterioration) compared to some later versions. This has maintained their leading position in the used record market.
💡 Collection and buyback Advice
If you own this Sam Hui Hits Collection (2 CD / T113 04 / T113 01),please ensure proper preservation of its original lyric booklet and outer case. Early silver ring or T113 versions in pristine condition have strong bargaining power in professional on-site CD Buyback services.
This is more than just a record; it is a cornerstone of Hong Kong Cantonese pop music history. Whether for nostalgic listening or as an artistic investment, its status remains irreplaceable.
